Key School offers classes for student in Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade. The average class size is approximately 20 students / teacher. In addition to the teacher, there is an instructional aide for every Pre-K, K, and 1st grade class.
The total number of students enrolled at Key in 2013 is 380. Approximately eight percent of the students who attend Key are considered “out-of-boundary.”
In 2012, 90% of students met or exceeded math standards on the DC Comprehensive Assessment System (DC CAS), and 91% of students met or exceeded reading standards on the DC CAS. For more information about DC CAS, see this page.
In 2008, Key was one of 10 local and 320 national schools out of 133,000 eligible schools to receive the Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon Award.
