Key school students, staff and parents continue to contribute to the local and global community. This year, coordinating with a previous Key family who is now in Jamaica and the Mustard Seed Organization, we collected over 40 large boxes of new and lightly-used stuffed animals that were given to disadvantaged Jamaican children this holiday season.
We also partnered with Mover Moms and Treats-4-Troops to collect excess Halloween candy that was sent to active duty troops. Key families donated over 150 pounds of candy!
In December, the Student Council partnered with SOME (So Others Might Eat) for a food drive. The Key School Community was able to collect over 800 lbs. of food! The items went directly to the SOME Food Pantry, where families can get the items they need. The Student Council is excited to participate in events that will serve our greater community.
Two more projects are about to start. The younger children at Key are going to be making Valentines to provide cheer for the elderly at Palisades Village, some of whom do not have family nearby. And we are partnering with Friendship Place to have Key students of all grades make trail mix that will be distributed at their welcome centers and shelters.
