December 6, 2020

December 6, 2020

December 7, 2020 Next Week at Key

Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Reopen Sessions this past Thursday. It is important that we hear from each family as we work on a plan to reopen school.

Key ReOpens Term 3: Please Fill Out the Survey by 7 pm TONIGHT!

Please take a moment, if you have not already, to fill out the survey for the Key School Reopening Plan. The purpose of this survey is to gather interest levels for in-person, CARE, and virtual settings for Term 3, so that we can then create a plan for the reopening process. The survey will close at 7 pm tonight, Sunday, December 6. Please don’t forget to take the survey for each Key student in your household. The goal is to create a reopening plan that meets the community’s needs based on survey

  • Additional comments, please send an email to Adam Kirschenbaum (aikbaum@hotmail.com) and Lauren Herrington (laurenherring@mac.com)

Key ReOpens Term 3: Community Forum Monday Night

On Monday, December 7, at 7 pm, the ReOpen Community Corps will host a community forum to share survey results and to solicit community input on plans that the Corps should consider for Key’s Term 3 reopen. DCPS has provided the Corps with the following information in planning for reopening  https://dcpsreopenstrong.com/community-corps/. At this time, all options are being considered.

The Corps is seeking feedback on two questions based on the survey data:

  • What reopen plans should Key consider for Term 3, based on the survey data to meet the instructional needs of all students?
  • What is the best way to prioritize students for in-person learning and CARE classrooms for Term 3?

On Wednesday, December 9, the ReOpen Community Corps will release a survey to the community soliciting feedback on Key specific reopen plan options. The survey will close on Thursday evening at 5 pm. Based on all of the community feedback, the Corps will submit its plan to DCPS by Friday, December 10.

Equity Team Update: Meeting Tuesday & Survey

Equity Team Meeting Tuesday, December 8, 7:30am – all are welcome

At our next Equity Team meeting, we’ll focus on trust and relationships with a group builder led by Kindred facilitator Azeb Kinder, and then share ideas for creating a space in which a diverse group of parents continue to build an inclusive and equitable school community. Alumni of last year’s Kindred dialogue groups are especially encouraged to come!
