Hello and welcome to the latest NW@K! It’s Spirit Week and there’s lots happening as the year draws to a close …
It’s Spirit Week!

World Family Day is Monday, June 3

End of Year Picnic Friday, June 7
Don’t miss the Key School End of Year Picnic, which caps off Spirit Week! Join our community for pizza, potluck, and fun to celebrate the end of a wonderful school year and to welcome summer, Friday, June 7 from 6:30 to 8 pm. Please bring a potluck dish, organized by last name: A-Q families bring main courses or side dishes; R-Z families bring dessert or fruit. Remember to take home your serving items or use disposable items. School rules apply during picnic, and parents are asked to be responsible for their children the entire event to insure everyone has a great time. Volunteers are needed to assist the Hospitality Committee Co-chairs with set-up, clean-up, and pizza sales, sign up here. Email Jessica Davis with questions at davis.jessicaL@gmail.com.
Fillmore Share Thursday, June 6
Head on over to Fillmore (1819 35th Street, second floor) on Thursday, June 6, at 1: 30 pm, to see performances. All details are here.
Cereal Drive Underway
Key School is participating in a cereal drive that supports the Capital Area Food Bank. Your child can bring cereal boxes directly to their classroom, or drop them marked with your teacher’s name in the bin located in the main entrance. The classroom that collects the most boxes of cereal wins the “Golden Spoon.” These donations are a source for breakfast during the summer school break for at-risk area children. Ends June 9th.
Collecting Toiletries and More for Neighbors in Need
For Key’s last community service drive of the year we will be collecting essential items for the female clientele being served at N Street Village. This is a safe haven for those impacted by domestic violence, a support system for women who suffer from mental illness and substance abuse issues, and a service provider for those with disabilities. Between 50 and 100 women enter N Street Village DAILY.
Let’s help. Donation boxes for toiletries (of any kind or size), socks, and undergarments (for females, all sizes) will be set up in the breezeway through the end of the school year.
Thanks to everyone for a successful year supporting important organizations that help our neighbors. Please share any ideas for drives and organizations we can support in the 2019-2020 school year by emailing Chrys Limardo at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Key School Parade Float
Last year the Key School float won the “Pride of Palisades” prize in the Palisades’ Fouth of July Parade. And this year we need your help! We are looking for volunteers to build/assemble, tow the float (ball hitch required), coordinate design, and help on the 4th with the kids.
