October 27, 2019
Hello and welcome to the latest NW@K. Here’s what you need to know as we head into the week. Happy Halloween!
Halloween Parade Thursday at 2:45 PM
Our Halloween Parade is scheduled for Thursday, October 31, beginning at 2:45 pm. The best viewing area will be from the playground. The parade route will be marked by orange pumpkin signs. Please have your child bring their costume to school; they should not wear it for the day. Time will be provided to change before the parade begins. More specific info will come from your child’s classroom teacher. No weapons please.
Kids’ Activities for Professional Development Days November 4 & 5
Need something for your child to do when school is closed Monday and Tuesday, November 4 and 5, for Professional Development? The PTO has organized some activities! Go the PD Days page (https://keyschooldc.org/dcps/professional-development-days/) on the Key School website and find information and links to register for PLAY-WELL STEM Engineering with LEGO, Art Camp, and Basketball.
Date Change — Harvest Festival is Sunday, November 17
Due to the inclement weather this Sunday, the Harvest Festival has been rescheduled to Sunday, November 17. The two weekends following the original date are long weekends (professional development and Veteran’s Day) and we didn’t want traveling families to miss out. It will be the same exciting event, with an amazing Haunted House … just a few weeks later. We’ll be selling punch tickets starting next week at drop off and on the blacktop. We look forward to seeing you on the 17th!
Ms. Johnson is Retiring!
Our wonderful Key registrar Ms. Johnson is retiring this week. She is a beloved part of our community, and we hope to send her off in style with your help. During the Halloween Parade, Ms. Johnson will be positioned along the track for a high five and hug receiving line. Homemade cards, thank you notes, and well wishes for Ms. Johnson are also welcomed in the office at her desk!
Please Volunteer for Morning Drop Off
Calling all parents of P-K through 3rd graders: We need your help with Key School Morning Drop Off!! We need two parents to volunteer each morning with drop off help at the front entrance. It’s a great way to start your day greeting all the little faces as they arrive at Key.
Each grade is assigned a month or so of Drop Off volunteer duty based on class size. Parents of 3rd graders are up next! (Thank you to 5th Grade and 4th Grade parents who have already volunteered/)
The parents of each grade will be required to fill the volunteer slots for the months to which they are assigned. Please sign up for at least one slot (or more if you want a repeat of the fun). Below are the schedule and sign-up genius links.
