Equity Team Update
Join a Kindred Dialogue Group
Are you interested in joining a diverse group of Key parents to engage in open, honest dialogue about identity, history, and the ways that race and racism impact how we experience the world? Kindred DC, in its second year of partnering with Key, is looking for eight to twelve parents who want to grow their empathy, deepen their racial consciousness, and develop a shared commitment to advancing racial justice and educational equity so that our school community is a place where everyone can thrive. To find out more, please contact Azeb Kinder: azeb@
Take the Equity@Key Survey
The Key Equity Team has set up this 3 minute survey to collect feedback from parents, teachers and staff members on their opinion and experience of race and diversity at Key. Please share your thoughts with us by the Tuesday, November 13: https://www.surveymonkey.c
Equity Team Meeting Recap/Next Meeting is November 16, 6:30pm
At the October 27 Equity Team meeting, Key’s Kindred liaison, Azeb, led us in a group-building exercise where we shared hopes and fears for our children. Staff updated parents on their outreach to at-risk and out-of-boundary students during remote learning. The administrative team reported back on the school’s response to an incident in which a racially-insensitive image was displayed in a virtual classroom. At our Nov 16, 6:30 pm, meeting, we will discuss the results of the Equity@Key survey. A Zoom link will be sent out and posted on Equity Page of Key’s website by Nov 15 — please join us, all are welcome!
